博根中文學校家長會 歡迎新家庭及會務簡介
親愛的家長們：
博根中文學校家長會歡迎您的子女來本校就讀，並與我們一起學習中文及中華文化。在現今的社會中， 中文的學習日漸重要，且需要長時間的投入與訓練，我們學校由娃娃班到大學先修班一共有十二班之多，家長與同學們就好像一家人一樣，一起在學校中成長學習，以下介紹一些博根家長會所安排的活動，讓您對學校及家長會有多一點的了解：
(一) PTA每月會議：家長會將在每個月的第二個星期天於第一堂課(1:20-1:50PM)時間在餐廳舉行會議，歡迎各位熱心家長前來賜教。家長會每年都需要大量熱心家長的參與及支持，我們非常歡迎您加入。
(二) 歡慶中秋活動：家長會在秋季班開學時，將擇日於第三堂課(3pm)在餐廳安排中秋慶祝活動，供應月餅給大家品嚐。
(三) 中國新年慶祝活動：這是每年最盛大的節目，有精美食品義賣、節目表演、及大抽獎等，歡迎本校師生家長邀請親朋好友一同來慶祝中國新年。
(四) 謝師宴：每年六月家長會將安排謝師宴, 感謝老師們一年辛苦的教導, 希望各位能踴躍參加。
除了以上數項重要活動之外，我們並將提供下列服務：
(一) 超市禮券：這是家長會一項非常重要的募款運作，我們今年將提供三家超市(金豐King-Fung, Han-Ah-Ruem, & ShopRite)的禮券，希望您能踴躍購買支持學校，請 eMail 黃嘉怡 (Flora Chui <fcc07661@yahoo.com>)訂購。
(二) 家長課程：我們有插花班及國畫課等固定課程，還有其他各項單次的課程如中文打字等提供給家長們，讓您在帶孩子來上中文課的同時，也有機會充實自己，請注意家長會的通知，並歡迎大家報名。
(三) 小吃部：基於家長會的服務原則，我們將以非常優惠的價格提供糖果、小吃、便當、咖啡、及汽水，請到餐廳購買，同時更提供免費熱茶給全校師生家長享用。
(四) 中文商店：為提高同學們來中文學校上課的興趣，家長會將提供老師們在中文商店的購物點數給同學們作為獎勵，每次同學們出席都有基本點數，另外在課堂上有傑出表現時，也會得到點數作為鼓勵。中文商店每學期開張兩次，讓同學們以累積的點數換取物品，如文具玩具日常用品等。
(五) 學生閱讀計劃 (Reading Program)：家長會贊助學校的學生閱讀計劃，請向各班老師詢問。

Bergen Chinese School PTA President
Dear Parents,
On behalf of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), we would welcome you and your children to Bergen Chinese School (BCS). We hope all your kids had an enjoyable and interesting first day in class. Learning Chinese, or any language, and the culture is a long training process. Our school offers different levels of classes ranging from Pre-K to college prep to adult conversation classes. We hope you and your children can walk through this learning path with us together as a family.
We would like to introduce some of the services that this PTA provides to your students and families:
- PTA meeting:
On the 2nd Sunday of each month between 1:20pm to 1:50pm, PTA will host a parent meeting at the cafeteria to discuss upcoming events, updated information that class parents should be aware of, and other school related details. Class Parents are requested to attend this monthly meeting. Other parents are also welcome to join the meeting. Following the meeting, class parents will be a brief summary to their class. Due to start date of the school, our first meeting will be on September 25th. - Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration:
Each year PTA celebrates this event by providing moon cakes and beverages towards the end of the school day near the Mid-Autumn Festival. This year as the moon festival was near the first day of school, we opened the school year with the moon festival taking place during the third session. - Chinese New Year Celebration:
This is one of the biggest events during the school year. It includes food selling, talent show, Chinese cultural performance and big raffles. It is always an exciting and extraordinary day for us. Students bring their family and friends to celebrate this special holiday with us. - Teacher Appreciation Luncheon:
A luncheon is planned at the end of each school year to show a token of appreciation to our teachers for their hard work, patience and guidance to our students. We hope you will also join us and show your support for our teachers.
PTA offers the following services throughout the year:
Supermarket Gift Certificates:
PTA provides gift certificates from King Fung (Chinese supermarket), Han-Ah-Ruem (Korean/Asian supermarket), & ShopRite. By buying these gift certificates you are not losing any money, yet you are helping us to raise fund. The PTA gets a 4% rebate from the gift certificates that you order and 1% rebate will go to your class fund. The class fund is money that can be used as the class parents decide, such as a party, rewards, etc. Please provide your support by ordering these gift certificates and fill out the attached order form. You can also come to the cafeteria and get them from our volunteer, Flora Chui, directly or by e-mail (fcc07661@yahoo.com)
Adult Classes:
We offer classes for Ikebana Flower Arrangement, Chinese Brushing and dance exercise and an adult conversation class. Please check out the information displayed on the PTA desk for details.
Snack Bar:
We have cookies, chips, candies, hot food, and juice boxes for sale at reasonable prices. We also provide free hot Chinese tea and water.
Chinese Store:
PTA offers a “Point System” as an incentive to encourage our students to come to Chinese school. Teachers give out points to students who attend their classes each week. Teachers also give out extra points to students who participate in class activities. Twice in each semester, PTA opens the Chinese Store for students to exchange goods with the points that they have earned. There is a big selection of items like stationeries, toys, daily use items and gifts, etc…..
As BCS is a non-profit organization, PTA needs to help the school to raise fund each year in order to provide such services to the BCS families. We need help from volunteers such as you to carry out these events and services. PTA also asks for your support to maintain the well being of this school.
